More Tragedy!

Last night, 575 B'way at Prince was up in flames. The fire was so resilient, it required 198 firefighters a'fightin' to extinguish the blaze. Wonder if Rem Koohaas' $40mil Prada store suffered any damage?

Rem Koolhaas is a mad scientist. His designs are so left of the dial that his peers can't even classify his style. ( Modernist? Humanist? Deconstructivist? ) Check out some of his amazing work at Office for Metropolitan Architecture.

UPDATE! Hamish on Gothamist said, "There were a lot of people taking pics. Especially since during all of this you could still pretty freely walk around, and IN the Prada store. It was pouring water from the ceiling. Everything in the building is ruined. I have no photos but we took video. Nuts."

Livin' On A Prayer

Thank goodness Jon Bon Jovi is okay. It was unfortunate that the "King of New Jersey" had to learn The TRUE MEANING of Slippery When Wet! The Candian Press obviously finds this funny!

Fabulous Fanny's

Props to Rachel of NKOTB for taking me to Fabulous Fanny's in the East Village this weekend.

Above is a shot from inside of Fab Fanny's and a picture of Rachel sporting one of her prized cateye frames at my karaoke birthday celebration. She also made cookies & cream cupcakes from scratch! Whatta woman!

Fanny's carries a huge selection of vintage eyeglasses from absolutely outrageous (think Elton John on a coke binge circa 1973) to sexy librarian. The best part: it's affordable at $40-75 for most frames...and only $60-80 to fill them with your prescription...just ask the accomodating gentlemen who run the shop where to get your lenses!
